Citeo SA (formerly Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio)
Citeo is the dominant French eco-organism for household packaging and graphic paper. Approved by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, it manages the recycling of around 5 million tonnes of packaging and paper put on the French market every year.
Citeo collects an eco-contribution from every producer whose products end up in French household waste streams. The money funds curbside collection, sorting centres, and recycling research across France. As a producer you adhere to Citeo, declare your annual tonnages, and pay accordingly.
Any company that places packaged consumer goods on the French market, whether shipped from France, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, or anywhere else. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.
We act as your French authorized representative under Article 8a §5 of Directive 2008/98/EC. We sign the Citeo adherence contract on your behalf, obtain your IDU through ADEME SYDEREP, file your annual declarations, and pay the eco-contribution from your account. You stay the producer; we handle the paperwork.
